Baseball
The students will practice:
- hitting a ball
- fielding a ball
- throwing a ball
Related Activites
- Scatch Catchers – The student should stand with their
knees bent and the scatch catcher on their non-dominant hand. The dominant
hand should be positioned next to the scatch catcher. The instructor will roll
or hit the ball to the student. The ball should make contact with the scatch
catcher. Then, the student will throw the ball back to the instructor.
- Soft. Toss – This activity is done in pairs. One
student, the tosser, will kneel in front of the batter with a basket full of
balls. The batter will stand slightly behind the tosser. The balls will be
thrown underhand by the tosser to the batter. Then, the batter will swing at
the ball.
- Hitting off of a batting tee – The student should be
provided with a basket of balls. The student will place a ball on the batting
tee. Then, the student will attempt to make contact with the ball. The
remaining students will stand in the outfield and field the balls that are
hit. The balls should be placed into a separate basket.
- Adaptive “T” Ball – One student will be the batter. The
remaining students will stand in the outfield. The batter will attempt to make
contact with the ball off of the batting tee. After contact is made, the
batter will continuously run the bases. The students in the outfield must
field the ball and pass it to everyone. The last person to receive the ball
will throw it into the screen near home plate. The batter should not stop
running until the ball is in the screen.
- Cricket - One student will be the batter. The remaining
students will stand in the outfield. The batter will attempt to make contact
with the ball when it is bounced to him/her. After contact is made, the batter
will continuously run the bases. The students in the outfield must field the
ball and pass it to everyone. The last person to receive the ball will throw
it into the screen near home plate. The batter should not stop running until
the ball is in the screen.
